Cecilia Sommerfield
Hi, I’m Cecilia and I am entering my freshman year at UCSD. This is my second year teaching lessons at Somerset. I have played water polo for 10 years, 7 of which were for the Northwest Water Polo Club where I competed at the Junior Olympics multiple times. This year I was a captain of the MIHS swim and water polo teams, I was named 2nd team All KingCo, I swam 100 breast at the state championship meet, I was named All State for water polo, and I was awarded the US Marine Corp Distinguished Athlete Award for my participation and leadership in these sports. Additionally I coached 8u water polo for NWPC. I love teaching so feel free to reach out!
Eric Zhao

I have swam competitively for 8 years on teams such as PDST, KING, and SMAC. As a swimmer, I have qualified for many competitive and national level meets. My specialty stroke is freestyle but I can comfortably teach all strokes and techniques for swimmers. Personalized lessons will be designed to bring swimmers to the next level and refine their techniques. Furthermore, I can answer questions you may have regarding situations outside of the water based on my personal experience. You can find me lifeguarding and coaching group lessons here at the Somerset Rec Club. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have and I look forward to working with your swimmer!

Evan Ping

Hi! I’m Evan, and I am a rising senior at Newport High School. I’ve swam competitively for close to ten years on teams such as PDST, OCA, and BCST, and I am currently ranked 19th overall in Washington state class of 2023. At the 2022 4A State Championships, I placed 4th in both the 100 and 200 yard freestyle. I’m happy to pass on the swimming techniques and tips that I’ve learned over the years, so feel free to reach out!

Jack Ketchum

Jack is an Assistant Coach on the Stringrays Swim Team. Jack is a student at the University of Washington in the engineering program and has been a swimmer his whole life. Jack was with Somerset Rec Club as a Sharky until the 18U’s.

Nadia Chihab
Hello all! My name is Nadia, and I am a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Somerset Recreational Club. Unlike in group lessons, during private lessons I will be able to devote the entire session to just your child. Private lessons with your child will ensure that they will get my full attention throughout the duration of the lesson. We will strive to achieve specific skillsand determine our goals often. I’m comfortable working with children under the age of 10, but there can be exceptions upon contacting me. I can teach anything from basic water skills (rhythmic breathing, back float safety skills, flutter kicks with boards, treading water, etc.) to beginner freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. While these skills are crucial to advancing levels, I look forward to establishing a trusting relationship with your child so that our sessions are fun, and they enjoy being in the water! I’d love to become a private swim instructor for your child in order to assist with acquiring the skills specific to their goals and their swimming future! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. See you in the pool!
Ramzi Chihab
Hi I am Ramzi and I am going into my sophomore year of high school! I have taught group lessons for all age ranges and I have experience with children through babysitting, reffing youth soccer games and helping out with an organization called Kids Coming Together. I have experience with competitive swimming and other water sports through water polo and high school swim/dive. It would be great to teach your kid(s) proper water safety and how to swim!
Sabrina Lim
Hello! I started swimming from age 4 and joined Somerset’s Swim Team at 8 years old. These past two years I’ve been a lifeguard and swim instructor in this lovely community of people that I consider a second family. After 8+ years on the swim team, two years on Newport High School’s Swim & Dive team (SWIVE) and 4 years of tutoring Mandarin Chinese, I’ve had a lot of experience with swimming and with kids. I love working with any skill level between the ages of 4-12 and cater lessons to your child specifically. We’ll come up with a plan together to have your kid improving and loving the water. Don’t hesitate to reach out and I hope to see you soon!!
